Hydorah is a game designed for classic shoot em up players, who still love clean designs and challenging adventures
Choose the path to follow and fight planet by planet against hordes of meroptians. Hydorah features lots of short and intense levels with fantasy spacial landscapes, unlockable weapons, secrets, and a large library of enemies and bosses. There is a single dificulty level, based on the 80's standards. It can be hard, but with every beaten level there will come the glory. Graphics and playability are both old school style, simple but hard polished. I want to give an special mention to the huge original soundtrack, composed exclusively by the brilliant Gryzor87, who has not hesitated in taking legendary synthesizers to create a retrofuturistic, powerful and sometimes dark soundtrack. Each level has a same-length track, composed to fit the visuals like a glove. The whole game takes obvious influence from Gradius, Castlevania or R-Type, but also from other classics treated worse by the time: Turrican, Enforcer, Space Manbow, Hellfire, Guardian, Hydefos, Armalyte and many others... Storm Caliber is another example of the well made shooters which are being developed in Japan. Exciting to play and with a wealth of power-ups and interesting graphics and sounds, the game will keep you going until you discover that it only has 4 levels. Unfortunately that is its only limitation since you get to the last level and past the final boss pretty quickly. A short download for a very fun game, definitely worth the 5-10 seconds you will need to get it.

Kops is a two-dimensional gravitational shoot-yer-friend game in 640x480x256 graphics mode. The original version was made back in 1996. This is port from the DOS version to Windows and released as freeware. You control your ship with five keys; thrust (move forward), turn left, turn right, fire main gun and fire special gun. Both main and special guns can be upgraded by picking up power-ups that appear around the level from time to time. When you pick up a main gun power-up, your gun is replaced instantiously. Your main gun also has unlimited ammo. If you pick up worse gun than you already had, tough luck. Your ship also has a special weapon with 2 to 16 slots; only one slot can be active at a time. To activate another slot, you must either visit a base and pick the slot, or pick up a next slot-power-up. The special weapons have limited ammo. When you visit a base, your ship is also automatically repaired; this takes time, and you are literally a sitting duck when you are being repaired. You also must return to a base when the last enemy goes down. The bases may also be destroyed along with all the other terrain, but they regenerate in time.

The graphics are great and so are the sound effects. The gameplay consists of completing various missions by blasting enemy spaceships while having to deal with the gravity pulling your ship down (ie. try to avoid crashing). A tough but well made game.
